The Lord Our Husband – Part 13

For your Maker is your husband,
The Lord of hosts is His name;
And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel;
He is called the God of the whole earth.
Isaiah 54:5 (NKJV)

The Holy One of Israel

The Lord our Husband, the Holy One of Israel, goes to great lengths to show us the blessings He desires to give us as the Bride of Christ. Our passage on the Holy One of Israel comes from Isaiah 30:9-26. While going through the repentance verses, please take time to reflect on the pain the Lord our Husband feels when we sin against Him in these following areas. Likewise, doing the replacement verses, please focus on how much it pleases Him to be able to give blessings to His Bride. It is written in Psalm 149:4 (NKJV): For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.

Repentance

  • Being rebellious (Is 30:9)
  • Lying (Is 30:9)
  • Not keeping the law of the Lord (Is 30:9)
  • Saying to the seers, “Do not see,” referring to seeing the Holy One of Israel, the Lord our Husband (Is 30:10)

  • Saying to the prophets for the Holy One of Israel, our Husband, to cease from being before us (Is 30:11)
  • Despising this word given in Isaiah 30 (Is 30:12)
  • Trusting, relying on oppression and perversity and not the Holy One of Israel, the Lord our Husband (Is 30:12)
  • Replying to the Holy One of Israel’s request to return and rest in Him for salvation by saying, “No, for we will flee on horses, and we will ride swift” (Is 30:15-16).

Replacement

  • Responding positively to the Holy One of Israel, the Lord our Husband’s words, “In returning and rest you shall be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be your strength” (Is 30:15).
  • Waiting on the Lord that He may be gracious and show favor to you (Is 30:18)
  • By waiting on the Lord, He will be exalted and from this may He have mercy on you because the Lord is a God of justice (Is 30:18)
  • Blessings come from the Lord for all those who wait for Him (Is 30:18)
  • Hearing with your ears a word behind you saying from the Holy One of Israel, the Lord our Husband, “This is the way, walk in it.” (Is 30:21)
  • Defiling the value of idols and throwing them away as unclean things and saying to them, “Get away!” (Is 30:22)
  • Then the Lord will bring the resources needed for your harvest (Is 30:23-25)
  • The Lord binds up the bruise of His people and heals their wounds (Is 30:26)

Stewardship/Reflection

I invite you to take time with the Lord your Husband, the Holy One of Israel, and ponder these items for growth in your daily walk with Him. Please ask the Lord your Husband, the Holy One of Israel:

  • What aspects of the repentance points stick out that He wants you to focus on removing to grow in your intimacy with Him?
  • What is the root of why you do this?
  • What healing needs to be accomplished in your relationship with Him in order to no longer continue this behavior?
  • What is the replacement of this from Scripture?
  • What do you need to implement in your life in order to be victorious in walking in reconciliation with the Holy One of Israel, the Lord your Husband in this area?
